Poured Out (Part 2): Consecration on the Feet of Jesus

This Sunday, we jumped into part 2 of a  series called Poured Out as we lean into the ways that God is pouring out wonderful things in and through our people. And we are asking the question, how do we collectively stir up momentum in our relationship with God. Start with this prompt:

  • Share a moment when someone sacrificed something in an extraordinary or extravagant way for you... How did you feel when they did this?

This week we are inviting your group to choose questions from the multiple options below.  Our hope is that these questions might help you to lead your discussion in a way that makes sense for your group this week as y’all “talk it out” and “live it out”.

TALK IT OUT AFTER READING 2 TIMOTHY 2:14-26 (esp. 20-22)

STUDY

  • What does Paul say about the quarrels/difficulties that had risen up in Timothy's church?

  • What does the metaphor of the vessels/utensils tell us about the way we and God relate to each other?

  • In v. 21, what does Paul say about the reason for holiness/consecration?

PROCESS (1 question)

  • What are you holding onto right now that God may be asking you to release to Him in order to set yourself apart? Are you ready to give that away? As each person names what they need to give away, we the group to pause for the group to lay hands on and pray over each person in the midst of this for the desire to love God as much as God can possibly loved through releasing.

LIVE IT OUT

PRACTICE

  • In what ways have you consecrated yourself to God in this past season? Where have you changed things in light of the Spirit of Jesus working in you?

  • Is there a specific habit that you can lean into in order to continue your consecration (shift your time with the Lord, change something within your finances, taking a day of Sabbath, etc.)?

PRAY

  • Beginning on Sunday, April 21st until Sunday, April 28th, we are planning to consecrate the prayer room 24/7 (168 one hour slots we are inviting our church to fill), to close group, consider praying together for clarity on when each of you might be able to inhabit this room as an prayer offering to God even if it may be feel strange (we need some night owls!)
