SERMON SERIES: MARRIAGE MATERIAL

“Material”--it’s the stuff we use to construct something. It’s raw, unfinished, in need of shaping.

And it’s what a marriage is.

Too often, we think of our marriages as fixed rather than in flux, as final rather than intermediate--”It is what it is and we have to deal with it.” But a relationship is a moldable thing--our marriages were never meant to be finished products, but material to keep building with.

In this series, we'll find out what God wants us to know and do as we strive to build something good.

PART 1: SINGLE-MINDED

If you're single and you might be married someday, you're shaping your marriage already. In this message, we explore what you need to do now if you want your future marriage to be good.

1/8/17  Speaker: Justin Gerhardt

PART 2: LESS OF ME

Ever try to get your spouse to give in and do the dishes before you do? Always pushing for the kinds of movies you like? Ever made up an excuse to get out of cleaning the litter box or changing a diaper?

If so, you're selfish! But take heart--you're not alone. And this message is for you.

1/15/17  Speaker: Justin Gerhardt

PART 3: NO RECORD

What do you do when your spouse doesn't do what you want? In this message, we explore what God says about how love responds to the inherent imperfection of human beings. (It's both really difficult and really good.)

PART 4: FILLING IN THE GAP

The Bible says love "always trusts" and "always hopes." Always? ...Really?

In this message, we explore what God says about how love acts and ask ourselves if it's realistic--or even healthy--to behave that way.
