Doubt It (Part 4): The Next Time You Doubt It

TO START

This Sunday, we jumped into the final part of a series called Doubt It. A series that speaks into the current and common wrestlings that can be experienced in either considering or having faith in God. Start discussion off with this question:

  • Share the first time you remember feeling enchanted as a child. Where were you? Who were you with? What do you remember the most about it?

This week we are inviting your group to choose questions from the multiple options below.  Our hope is that these questions might help you to lead your discussion in a way that makes sense for your group this week as y’all “talk it out” and “live it out”.

TALK IT OUT AFTER READING MATTHEW 28:16-20

STUDY

  • Matthew tells us in v. 17, “when they saw him [Jesus], they worshiped him; but some doubted”. What do you think this means? Is it possible to worship and doubt at the same time?

  • Reflect on the significance of Jesus’s claim in verse 18. What are some of the  implications for your life?

PROCESS

  • Share about a time in your life when you have had more questions than answers when it comes to your faith. How did you get through it?

  • Have you ever stepped away from walking with Jesus followers because you were left wounded by them? What did you do instead?

  • What do you think about this, “a pampered faith is a perishing faith”? How does it relate to you?

LIVE IT OUT

PRACTICE

  • Have you recently given Jesus authority over something in your life? Or is there an area where you need to place authority and trust in him where you haven’t yet?

  • What next tangible step might Jesus be inviting you to take in your faith? Is it baptism? Is it spending more time with Jesus? Is it taking a risk? Is it forgiving someone? (If you aren’t sure, we encourage you to spend time thinking about this and praying about this over the next week)

PRAY

  • This week, we want to invite your group to close with a space for group members to ask for God to meet us where we are.  Invite members in your group who are willing to say out to Jesus, “I want to encounter you, Jesus, as I deal with ______”.... Close with a prayer like this. “God, we share these things as an act of trust in you, the God who hears us and responds. Amen.”
